While Plano ISD faces its third year of multi-million dollar budget deficits, fiscal
accountability is one of Steve’s top priorities. In addition to financial accountability
must extend beyond to encompass all areas – from administrators at the campus level,
teachers in the classroom, student’s individual performance and parental involvement

The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished.” - George
Bernard Shaw
Plano ISD does a good job of
relaying information
across several formats. However, we
still need to improve communication at every
level from school board meetings to
the local campuses. Steve believes that by increasing communication skills,
processes and technology, Plano ISD can provide focused, consistent, and quality attention that will also decrease
the divide often felt between administrators, teachers,
and parents.

Steve is committed to bringing fiscal transparency to Plano ISD.
With a $17 million budget deficit, it is important for taxpayers to know
whether their tax dollars are being spent wisely. Like Collin
County, Plano ISD should put its check register online for review. Going beyond financial transparency, Steve is dedicated to increasing visibility
into operations and classroom instruction at all levels within the district.
