Steve Navarre

As a parent, Steve has always been very active in his children’s education and has worked to be a strong advocate for them. All three of his boys go to Plano ISD schools; two boys in elementary school and one son in middle school. He knows what parents go through every day both in and out of school – from helping with homework and parent-teacher conferences to balancing work, school and extracurricular activities. The “Parent Perspective” is needed to be an effective school board trustee.

Steve’s 10 years of corporate consulting brings a fresh perspective, new ideas and real-world business insights to the school board at a time when Plano ISD needs it the most. In his consulting career, he regularly works with Fortune 500 clients to build efficiencies, reduce costs, improve processes and execute solutions on a multi-million dollar scale. His business acumen and proven leadership abilities are needed to balance the $17 million budget deficit and increase our district ratings from Acceptable to Exemplary.

Steve served his country for 8 years of military service in the US Army National Guard that includes active duty service during Desert Storm, drug interdiction missions and flood rescue and relief operation in the Houston area. He was the recipient of the Army National Guard Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Meritorious Unit Award. He is a life member of the National Guard Association of Texas.

Steve earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Business Finance from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He also spent two and half years as a Nuclear Engineering major at Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M, Steve served in the Corp of Cadets K-1 unit and was a member of various academic and community service organization. Steve’s diverse educational background in Math, Science, English, History and Business gives him the ability to look at and solve problems from various directions.
